Activities

St. John Ambulance, Odisha State Centre, Bhubaneswar is part & partial of National Headers. St. John Ambulance (INDIA), New Delhi since 1942. The activities of this organisation are based on its principles and guidelines carried out the instructional works, enrolment of memberships, holding of First Aid/Home Nursing training regularly for general public. Organises Refresher/Orientation programmes for Lay-Lecturers time to time to update their knowledge.

In addition to training programmes inside the state and outside the state a regular Training centre is functioning at State Headquarters Bhubaneswar. Around 12,281 beneficiaries have undergone on First Aid training during 2019-20. Due to Covid-19 pandemic Training programmes are badly affected in the State.

Earlier training programmes have been completed in Government sectors like ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers more than (40000 nos), Tribal Students in the district of Koraput, Rayagad and Mayurbhanja. First Aid training to Secondary School Teachers of Odisha is completed 13 District. Two nos First Aid Manual provided to each High School of Odisha on free of cost to educate the school student in First Aid i.e.one copy of school library and another one for Teacher’s copy. This training programme is highly appreciated by the Govt. Sector, District Administration and intellectual group of the society. First Aid Training programme held for members of Mission Shakti under the Women & Child Development Deptt.

For the purpose of community based service, First Aid training provided to Police/Home Guard personnel of Odisha and Jail inmates also. All these programmes are organised and provided by St. John Ambulance, Odisha on free of cost.

The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has taken the St. John Ambulance as Stakeholder and the programmes are held regularly throughout the year. Training programmes covered like Airport Authority, All India Institute of Medical Science(AIIMS) ITR Chandipur, IRE, Chatrapur, OPTCL, Odisha, IOCL Paradeep, BPCL Paradeep, HPCL, Paradip Port, Dhamara Port, NALCO-Damanjodi & Angul, Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd., Sambalpur & Bandhabahal, Jharsuguda L&T- Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Sonapur, Rourkela, East Coast Railway employees and many other corporate sectors EFFCO,TATA STEEL Balesore, IMFA Kaliapani, Vikram Cement, JSPL Raigarh, Vedant, NTPC etc.. It is a remarkable part that the officers and staff of Transport Deptt. like RTOs. MVIs have also undergone First Aid training. Training programme held in Hotel Industries like Mayfair, Hotel Hindustan International, Hotel Swosti and Hotel Ginger etc.

Globally the First Aid Day is celebrated in 2nd Saturday of September each year. As known the Odisha State Centre celebrate the First Aid Day on 8th September 2018 at Raj Bhawan, Bhubaneswar for the first time in India. Following a week of programme i.e. training to School students-Orientation Programme, training to Jail inmates, Swatch Bharat, Pujya Puja and plantation programme was undertaken. This year the World First Aid Day will be celebrated on 12th Sept.2020 without fun-fair due to amid Covid-19 Pandemic.

Other than the training ,St. John Ambulance steped ahead towards voluntary nature of service with rendering of First Aid service during natural calamities ,i.e. Flood, cyclone storm, accidents and other emergency situations and provides Ambulance Service in huge congregation at the events of Govt./Corporate sectors /Public events etc.as and when required for safe transportation of causality.

One Force Ambulance has been deployed to Odisha Secretariat and other BLS Ambulance also deployed to Air Port ,Bhubaneswar for Ambulance Service at free of cost.

In the present crisis i.e. amid Covid-19 pandemic the volunteers office bearers and staff members of St. John Ambulance Odisha are providing necessary services as per the guideline/principles of the Govt.in the lockdown period, distribution of lunch packets to

4. Gokhibaba Kusthashram
5. Lingaraj kusthashram
6. Science Park Basti
7. Railway coach centre

Different district centre’s of St. John Ambulance distributed Dry Food, Hand wash, grocery items, sanitisers, mask, organise awareness camps, awareness programmes to the Physically challenged and orphanage children of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Voluntarily and on request from the public and from different institutions the demonstration camps are held how to clean hands and other necessary points to protect from CORONA Virus.
